Dear colleagues,

I would like to draw your attention to a symposium organised within the frame of the E-MRS 2009 Spring Meeting, in Strasbourg, in June 2009.

This symposium will be devoted to X-ray Techniques for Advanced Materials, Nanostructures and Thin Films: from Laboratory Sources to Synchrotron Radiation

The list of topics covered is as follows:

• Photovoltaics
• Oxides
• Surfaces and interfaces
• Microstructure
• Stress and texture
• Biomaterials and soft matter
• Time-resolved measurements (femtosecond dynamics)
• Materials under extreme conditions
• Semiconductors
• Magnetic materials
• Nanostructures (quantum dots, nanowires, …)
• X-rays, environment and cultural heritage
• Graphene and related materials
• 3D imaging with x-rays

The proceedings of the symposium will be published in a special issue of “Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms”.
